I can't find a way to ameliorate this tragedy.  Although I didn't know
Bevan too well, what I did know about him was that he was a very pleasant,
easy-going, and intelligent guy.  For example, I challenge everybody here to
try recalling in their mind the image of Bevan's face without a huge grin on
it.  I can't do it.  I even remember him having a grin on his face in the
CSE145 lab.  I think a person had to be incredibly smart to get through that
class without a few sour looks sneaking onto their faces.
