Unless anyone feels like taking the honor, I will send the letter Carl
suggested (plus any additional changes/additions/modifications/etc).  
I'll post the final version tommorow night for review and send the letter
Thursday morning (10 days after his death, 5 days after the funeral).

If anyone wants to add anecdotes (as Carl's is the currently the only
one), or simply their name (currently a dozen of us), send them to me or
to the list.
