Wouldn't know.  Short of being permanently stuck behind a Grandma, I'm
physically incapable of measuring the normal drive time of that route.

Yes, you can take the 78 to the 15, but that hits in Escondido.  If
you're headed down to San Diego, you're better off going 78 to 67 to
Pomerado Road (which then turns into Miramar Road).  Or you can take
the 79 straight (if you measure with a fat enough ruler to average out
the curves) south to 8.  Personally, if you're destination is anything
south of Del Mar, I'd advocate the 79.  It may take a few minutes more,
but those few minutes are well spent.
